Mission: A call for help
Location: Bridge Ready Room
Timeline: 15:00 Hours

Sharp: Greetings everybody, this meeting is being held to assign your roles for the up coming mission this mission will involve us breaking up into two teams.

The first team will consist of the fighters led by Commander Uden and a shuttle crewed by Lt.Commander Taylor & Lt.JG McMurdoch

The fighters will escort the shuttle which is being outfitted with more sensors to where the planet Bringloid used to be. Starfleet knows that it was destroyed by a steller storm, but since then strange reports of ships have been seen in the area and starfleet wants more information on them as they believe they have something to do with the Breen situation.

The 2nd team will be led by Lt. Novol and his security team followed up by Dr Kelly and her medical teams the last reports we have from the Starfleet team were unsettling since the crashed Breen ship so I want the area secured and then medical can take over with Security escorts I dont want anybody by them selfs all people on the planet will work in pairs minimal, I want pass phrases issued to every body who beams down if your buddy doesnt know the pass phrase you give them then your are hold them there and call for help.

I want all people who come back from the planet given a full medical check as strict as possible.

Does anybody have any Questions?

Taylor: *Mac looked at the captain trying to formulate the the sentence properly*

Kelly: "Um Sir.....what exactly is the point of medical needing to be on the surface of the planet? Surely if there is a worry about Breen then you just need security to check out the situation."

Sharp: "Thats an easy one, we haven't heard from our personel since the last message so eather they are dead, too sick or ill to communicate with us or something else, Security are good for securing things and protecting people but only a medicaly trained officer can determen if a person is dead/ill or something else.

Dont forget that the Breen said "Run they are coming they are in us they are.... " . They are in us is very worrying indeed that suggests some form of parasite or infection or something else, that is why I want you down there you will be able to quicker work out if the people we come across are ours in body and in mind than a security officer, it is also why I am ordering such safety and decontamination and health checks to be done on any people who come back up from the planet. I would have sent somebody less senior but since our staff is still small and I couldnt send a nurse who is so advanced in her joys down to a potencialy dangerious planet.

She and your other nursers will be able to handle the decon and health checks I will be assigning anybody else I can to help out with the decon and such to assist your remaining staff Doctor."

Uden: *Seeing as the Doctor's question was answered, he grunted to get the attention of the Captain.*

"Since it seems that this is a possible hostile action, I ask what are the rules of engagement?"

Sharp: "since I have no idea what you may be facing I would say do not engage unless you are fired upon first and only then to defend yourself whilst you get good scans of anything and everything you can before getting out of danger, we know something is there we just dont know what so far Starfleet hasnt had a ship to spare to check it out so its us, and everytime they use long range stuff they get nothing but jibberish back from the sensors hense the up close and personal approch I am hoping a few fighters and a shuttle will be less of a threat compared to a whole ship, so you will be able to get in and out but you know our luck so just be ready for it but dont get into a fight unless there is absolutly no choice in the matter its strictly a scan and dash mission.

Any more questions?"

Yme: "Captain I'm hoping I will be able to sense any intentions of any beings or the wellfare of the team when we get down there"

Sharp: "Anything else people?"

Uden: "yes, Captain. I would like your permission to declaire weapons hot as soon as reach the target area. This might be a scan and dash, but I would rather they be able to defend on a minutes notice, and not have to wait permission to fire."

Sharp: "Commander since I wont be with you on this mission and communicatiuons would have a delay of a few seconds depending on how bad the planet or there interferance I leave when to go weapons hot, when and if they should open fire in your capable hands, I want every single one of your team back not to bothered about the fighters but I want the pilots and crews back alive at all costs do what you have to defend yourselfs but only if you are fired on first, if they lock onto you hold till they fire then by all means do what you have to, to bring your team home."

Uden: "Aye Aye, Captain."

Sharp: "What about yourself Lt. Novol & Lt.JG McMurdoch do you have any questions?

Is that ok then Doctor, or is there anything else you wish us to do or to add any suggestions on what level of decon and such to deal with a possible parasitic or virus threat to the ship and her crew?"

Kelly: *Kate sat in her chair having blocked out what Uden and Sharp are discussing, giving it wasn't relevant to her now. She still felt uneasy about this mission, about Uden being sent away. She remembered his words about wills and looking after Jadvyga is something happened. Kate looked at Uden under her eyelashes, trying to keep down the tears, she cried enough of them after Uden had left this morning. Suddenly Kate heard Sharp addressing her*

"Sorry Sir...um...without knowing fully the parasitic or virus involved I really am unsure. I would request that before anyone be beamed back to the ship, a full medical scan is completed of them, this should help us detect any parasites. Also I would limit travel between the ship and the planet to transport only, the bioflilters should eliminate alot of the virus' which may contaminate us. Our level of decon? I think at this point it would be minimal. We've had starfleet personal on the surface, so we know containment suits won't be required. There have been no prior reports of decon being required, I feel scans and transporters should be sufficient."

Sharp: That may have been true then Doctor but since the ship crashed there has been a lot of issues like the message they are in us and run followed by the loss of contact maybe the crashed ship brought something with it which is why things have gone bad there.

From your point Novol what should we do?"

Novol:"I believe it would be logical to have our planetary team armed and ready for any event which may unfold Captain as the Commander suggested for his own team. From what we discovered about this supposed parasite, our own crew mates on the surface may be hostile to us if they are not in control of themselves. Although I think it wise for us to attempt to capture a crewman who is infected first, rather than just eliminate them. It would no doubt be beneficial for the Doctor to analyze them.

*Turning to the Doctor*

Doctor? Speaking purely for Security of the ship, do you really think it wise to allow 'anyone' transport back to the ship once they have been on the surface, even if they have been scanned first? Is it possible our scanners may not detect any virus or parasite, especially if we have not encountered it before and the scanners have not been set to scan for them? Would it be wise to allow my team the chance to capture an infected person first for testing?"

Kelly: "Hum....Your making the assumptions Novol, that 1)there is a virus or parasite and 2) that our people have been infected. What if we arrive down and everyone has disappeared? How would you propose we then do a medical analysis in order to establish how we get our people back to the ship? Or if we manage to capture our people or find their bodies, who's to say a medical exam would allow us to establish a parasite or virus is present? There has been many cases throughout history that parasites may not be visible to our eye or indeed, our equipment.

Your proposal would suggest we should all stay on-board the ship and do nothing because of the possible risks on the planet."

Uden: *Leaned forward and coughed slightly*

"If I may offer a suggestion?"

Kelly: *turns her seat in order to face Uden*

"Commander?"

Uden: "Send the fighters in to eradicate anything on the ground that may be seen as hostile to the crew. After it cools down, send an away team."

Kelly: *stares at Uden with her mouth slightly open in shock before managing to gather her wits*

"What on earth? If our people are alive down there, you would kill them!! And that's not even taking into account who or whatever else you might kill which hasn't been discovered yet. Why on earth would you do that?"

Uden: *He grimaced and stared right into Kate's eyes. It wasn't the loving stare of the hours before, but the cold, calculating stare of the Commander.*

"Because as the Executive Officer of this vessel, it is my duty to make sure that whatever is decided, that the crew and personnel of the Halo is out of harm's reach. This is not a science vessel, Doctor Kelly. This is a ship of War. And if we are being asked to go into this zone and do what it is that we do, then that is what we are ordered to do: To make war upon those that threaten The Federation. And the best way to keep the parasite or virus infection off this ship is to make sure that there is NO Chance of it boarding in the first place. The obvious answer to this is to make an area safe for an away team. The best chance of that would be by burning out any virus or parasite. Simple as that."

Kelly: *Kate met Uden's stare straight on, remembering work comes before pleasure*

"Directive 010 Commander, Before engaging alien species in battle, any and all attempts to make first contact and achieve nonmilitary resolution must be made. How do you know that whatever is on the planet has a intent to cause danger to us or anyone? It was the Breen who communicated the message, 'run they are in us', maybe whatever got them understood the threat the Breen posed and consider us to be safe?"

Uden: "You did not fight the Breen, Doctor. Whatever made them run will only make us worse off. Trust me."

Novol:"Please...Commander, Doctor! You both have valid points. However, we are 'all' suspicious of these parasite's.

We have all assumed that the Captain was not in control of himself in Space dock and caused so much damage to the Halo, and therefore logically can deduce that the parasite or virus controlling him definitely has untoward intentions towards Star fleet. But! We cannot exterminate them Commander, not without gaining first contact and determining exactly their intentions. You must remember the Captain saying do not fire until fired upon?"

Uden: *Slammed his fist on the table*

"And I say that a parasite DOES NOT FIRE. If we do not clear an area for the away team, then the chance of having more than just a few decks destroyed goes up tenfold! If we are to move on the assumption that these parasites are the ones used to possess the late captain that sabotaged OUR vessel, then we HAVE been fired upon first!"

Novol:"An interesting train of thought Commander. Although we do not know who infected the Captain of course, Breen or otherwise, and are still uninformed as to their true intention, the parasites I mean.

Still, you are correct...it may be wise if we were to at least find or make a safe area before landing as you suggest. Perhaps we should put that to the Captain before deciding further?"

Sharp: *sitting with his head resting on one hand as he watched the exchange go from one officer to the next back and forth in a never ending circle*

"Gentlemen and Ladies, you all have raised interesting points but the fact remains we cannot use military force on the planet with out causing unnecessary casualties,

1. What about the people who Starfleet were helping there genetic make up is quite different than our own since they were all clones and were slowly breading with other humans to save there whole race.

2. What about our own personnel are you asking us to kill them before we find out what happened to them.

We are here to investigate we are not here as a war ship we are here to find out all we can and report back to Star fleet sadly that means that we have to put our crew in dangerous situations, do not forget Commander that you wont be with the ship when we reach the planet you have your own mission to contend with, with its own dangers and problems to consider though I remind you Commander force is your last option by all means look mean and not to be messed with but they make the first shot and even then we are assuming there is something there because we get strange readings for all we know you could get there and find two Q's playing a game of poker, smoking cigars and drinking booze we just don't know which is why you are being sent with as much protection as this ship can muster that being the fighters your role is to protect the shuttle so they can scan as much as possible as safely as possible.

As for the planet I will be most likely picking the most isolated position a few miles out side of any settlements/bases and especially the crashed ship it means the security team will have a bit of a hike but it will also give you the most notice of danger.

I want open comm links at all times, I want as many medical tests as can be thought up for when crew come back they will be beamed directly to sickbay and treated as a person who is contaminated or worse till tests show other wise that being said I know there are many things that our tech cannot pick up from bugs to parasites to life forms we have never encountered yet to sub space species.

But to minimalise I want as much checking medically as we can, with luck and a lot of good thinking we will get there to find that the Breen was talking about a really bad cold and that it is nothing more than a communications problem and that everybody is too busy blowing there noses lying in bed to contact us.

But we have to consider all aspects of these mission.

This mission briefing is to ask questions set plans into motion and prepare for anything we can prepare for keeping everybody that we can safe.

Novol your teams are to use minimal force and deadly only if they have to to protect themselves the people of the planet aren't hostile by nature but when the Federation was last here they were prity desperate and made mistakes and if something is going on whilst they arnt not by nature hostile your to treat anybody who you encounter as a dangerous person till it can be established what happened.

All teams are to gather as much information as possible.

Team Alpha

1. what is at the co-ordinates
2. who are they if there is somebody there
3. what is there threat level are they hostile passive, or a hornets nest waiting to strike

Team Beta

1. Where are our people and the people of the planet
2. where are the Breen
3. Why the loss of communications
4. What happened
5. treat people who are hurt if any and investigate everything.

These are the area's I wish you to cover on the mission and anything else you can think of as well.

any questions or any other things you all wish to talk about before we get underway?"

Novol:"Captain?....Of the contingent sent to the surface from Star Fleet before, is there anyone of any significance we should be looking for. High ranking personnel I mean?"

Sharp: "Lt. Commander Sarah Snow is the team leader of the Star fleet personnel down on the planet, she would be the most important of the members down there to find but there is no real special thing to find just her its more find the whole team and then find what went on."

Novol:"Very well...understood"

Taylor "No questions from me as they all have answered."

Sharp: "Then unless anybody else has anything too add or ask I suggest we finish this meeting.

Alpha team you will depart at 09:00 hours tomorrow please make sure your all prepared for that time.

Beta Team we will proceed to the planet which will take 6 hours from this location then we will commence our own mission.

Does everybody understand what they most do?"

Novol:"Yes Sir"

McMurdoch:"Yes Sir"

Uden:"Aye Captain."

Sharp: "then you are all dismissed people, I will let you all get about your duties now, good look to Alpha Team may you have a safe trip."
